Wingspan is the second largest plastic recycler

Welcome to Wingspan Plastics

Plastic is one of the easiest materials on the planet to recycle. And in terms of our environment, it’s also one of the most important.

As an oil-based product, plastic production consumes vast quantities of a critical, expensive, non-renewable resource. While at the same time it is one of the most damaging to our sea and land environment, and can literally take thousands of years to decompose and disappear.

For this reason, recycled polyethylene is fast becoming an increasingly sought-after commodity both in South Africa, and abroad.

Under the directorship of Herman Pieterse and Nico van Wyk, Wingspan Plastics is already the Western Cape’s second largest recycler of plastics, and we’re on a mission to collect and process as much plastic as humanly possible.

Discarded milk or fabric softener bottles, ice cream tubs, plastic bags, and even cling-wrap can all be recycled, and converted into something useful like a garbage bag, a comb, a rope, a car bumper, or even a kids toy.
